Settling in

If you read my blog of August 2nd you would know that I reactivated my real estate license while still in Mexico, was the agent for the purchase of our new house and for another family member’s house, as well.  Both of the real estate deals closed in the middle of August.  So in the middle of August, Robert and I moved to this gated over-55 community in Indio, California,  about 20 mi from Palm Springs.

So far, this is the quietest neighborhood I’ve ever lived in.  If you know me at all, you know I love quiet.  The neighborhood is also just a couple miles from shopping. If we want to hike, we will have to drive, as there are no hills in this subdivision.  We’re surrounded by hills though, about 10 miles away in every direction. And we can see the low hills to the east from our kitchen window.

When Robert and I left our homes in California to move to Mexico, we kept our kitchen things, some  decorative items, tools and clothes.  We kept enough to fill a 10×10 storage unit.  But we gave away or sold our furniture, framed artwork, the car,  my glass working equipment, and more.

When the agent representing this house explained that it was being sold just as it was, with the furniture and everything in it, we knew it was the right house for us.

In the past 6 weeks we’ve sorted through our new house, given  things away by listing them on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace, taken things to Revivals (the local charity store), purchased things that we still needed, made improvements to the lighting and the neglected irrigation system, and we just had the carpets and the windows cleaned a few days ago

I feel comfortable now that the house is a little more reflective of us and I’m ready to get into my normal life of glasswork, astrological consulting, and a regular fitness routine.

If you hadn’t heard from me for a couple months and wondered why I dropped out, it was because I had only enough energy to take care of what was right in front of me and I knew I had to focus in order to get it all to come together.

I am back!
